The Town of Braselton’s downtown parking deck has earned a statewide award for construction excellence.

On March 24, the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) awarded Braselton first place in the 2020 AGC Build Georgia Awards. The winners are selected based on exceptional project safety performance, overcoming the challenges of a difficult project, innovation in construction techniques and materials, excellence in project management and scheduling, and dedication to client service and customer care.

The deck is located at the corner of Ga. 53 and Davis Street and has four levels, 270 spaces, and two electric vehicle charging stations. BM&K, the design-build engineer for the project, mixed the architectural styles of the historic Braselton Bros. Store and the adjacent Municipal Complex.

“The parking deck is an important component of our strategy to bring more visitors into the heart of the town,” Town Manager & Clerk Jennifer Scott said. “BM&K helped us create a well-designed product that blends perfectly with Braselton’s historic downtown.”

The deck provides complimentary parking for downtown businesses and events as well as a future civic center. Construction of the SPLOST-funded civic center is slated to begin in 2020.

Chartered in 1916, the Town of Braselton began as a commercial center for the northeast Georgia farming community. Today Braselton is home to approximately 10,583,000 square feet of industry and nearly 12,000 residents. The town is strategically located off Interstate 85 just 38 miles north of Atlanta, an attractive location for industrial, commercial, and residential development. Attractions like Château Élan Winery & Resort, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, and the semiannual Braselton Antique & Artisan Festival draw more than 1 million tourists each year.
