NOTICE OF TOWN OF BRASELTON

GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

Pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-1 et seq. and all other applicable Georgia laws, please be advised that on November 2, 2021, a general municipal election will be held in the Town of Braselton, Georgia, at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of said Town for their determination the expired term of:  Mayor (to succeed Bill Orr); Council Member District 2 (to succeed Peggy Slappey); and Council Member District 4 (to succeed Hardy Johnson).

The election shall be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, between the hours of  7:00 o'clock a.m. and 7:00 o'clock p.m. at Braselton Police & Municipal Building Community Room, Braselton, Georgia.  All duly qualified electors of the Town of Braselton are urged to participate.  Those qualified to vote at said election shall be determined in all respects in accordance and in conformity with the laws of the State of Georgia. 

Those interested in qualifying for said offices should be advised that the respective qualification period shall run from Monday, August 16, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. through Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. at Braselton Town Hall.  Qualification will close at 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.  Individuals intending to qualify shall remit the sum of $360 for Mayor and $180 for Council Member. 

The registration deadline to vote in this election shall close at 4:30 p.m., October 4, 2021.  Any person who is presently registered as a voter in said Town but who now resides outside the Town limits is not eligible to vote in said election.  All duly qualified electors of the Town of Braselton, Georgia, are urged to participate.  Those qualified to vote at said election shall be determined in all respects in accordance and in conformity with the laws of the State of Georgia. 

In accordance with the Town Charter, the successful candidate(s) will be determined by majority of votes.  A run-off election, if necessary, shall be held November 30, 2021.

This and all Town of Braselton Elections are governed by the Municipal Election Code of the State of Georgia and the Town Charter.  A copy of the ordinance and/or resolution calling for the election is on file, together with other relevant documents, for inspection at the Town Clerk’s Office

CONVOCATORIA DE LA CIUDAD DE BRASELTON

ELECCIONES MUNICIPALES GENERALES

De conformidad con O.C.G.A. § 21-2-1 y siguientes y todas las demás leyes de Georgia aplicables, tenga en cuenta que el 2 de noviembre de 2021, se llevará a cabo una elección municipal general en la ciudad de Braselton, Georgia, en cuyo momento se presentará a los votantes calificados de dicha ciudad para su determinación los términos vencidos de: Alcalde (para suceder a Bill Orr); Miembro del Concejo Distrito 2 (para suceder a Peggy Slappey); y Miembro del Concejo Distrito 4 (para suceder a Hardy Johnson).  

La elección se llevará a cabo el martes 2 de noviembre de 2021, entre las 7:00 a.m. y las 7:00 p.m. en Braselton Police & Municipal Building Community Room, Braselton, Georgia. Se insta a participar a todos los electores debidamente calificados de la ciudad de Braselton. Quienes califiquen para votar en dicha elección serán determinados en todos los aspectos de acuerdo y de conformidad con las leyes del Estado de Georgia.

A las personas interesadas en calificar para dichos cargos se les informa que el período de calificación respectivo se extenderá desde las 8:30 a.m. del lunes 16 de agosto hasta las 4:30 p.m. del miércoles 18 de agosto en el Ayuntamiento de Braselton. La calificación se cerrará a las 4:30 p.m. el miércoles 18 de agosto de 2021. Las personas que tengan la intención de calificar deberán remitir la suma de $360 si desean postularse para Alcalde o $180 si desean postularse para Miembro del Consejo.

La fecha límite para inscribirse a votar en esta elección se cerrará a las 4:30 p.m. del 4 de octubre de 2021. Cualquier persona que esté actualmente registrada como votante en dicho Ciudad pero que ahora resida fuera de los límites del Ciudad no es elegible para votar en dicha elección. Se insta a participar a todos los electores debidamente calificados de la ciudad de Braselton, Georgia. Quienes califiquen para votar en dicha elección serán determinados en todos los aspectos de acuerdo y de conformidad con las leyes del Estado de Georgia.

De acuerdo con los Estatutos de la Ciudad, los candidatos seleccionados se determinarán por mayoría de votos. Una segunda vuelta, si es necesario, se llevará a cabo el 30 de noviembre de 2021.

Esta y todas las elecciones de la Ciudad de Braselton se rigen por el Código de Elecciones Municipales del Estado de Georgia y los Estatutos de la Ciudad. Una copia de la ordenanza y / o resolución que pide la elección está archivada, junto con otros documentos relevantes, para su inspección en la Oficina del Secretario Municipal.

About our Government:

The Town of Braselton government consists of a Mayor and four Council Members. The term of office is four years. The elections are staggered every two years. 

The Braselton election type is majority and the candidate needs 50% plus one vote to win. You must declare which district you are running for when you qualify as a candidate and you must reside in that district. 

Ethics in Government Act:
The Ethics in Government Act requires candidates and officers to keep clear records of all contributions in cash or by other sources as well as all distributions or expenditures. Anonymous donations are prohibited. Funds received from unknown sources must be turned in to the State. Records are to be kept for three (3) years and be available for inspection upon request. Campaigning
The O.C.G.A. Section 21-2-414 states no person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method, nor shall any person distribute any campaign literature, newspaper, booklet, pamphlet, card, sign, or any other written or printed matter of any kind, nor shall any person conduct any exit poll or public opinion poll with voters on any ... election date: The provisions prohibit such conduct: 

1. Within 150 feet of the outer edge of any building within which a polling place is established.
2. Within any polling place; and
3. Within 25 feet of any voter standing in line at such polling place. 

Penalty 
The Ethics in Government Act provides that any person who knowingly fails to comply with, or who knowingly violates the provisions of the ACT shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
